Charles C Carter
About the Artist
A native of Scottsdale, Arizona, Charles C. Carter's work is influenced by the native Arizonan Indian culture and Mexican folk art that surrounded him as a child - not to mention the abstract beauty of the Sonoran Desert, but his work also pays tribute to the various other art forms Carter has studied, including avant -guarde architecture and design, photography, jewelry design, Japanese block printing and Japanese embrodery. These myriad experiences converge in to a one-of-a-kind style that is marked by Carter's fearless use of bold colors and heavy textures, mixed with an appreciation of the human figure, and faces in particular. The result is a whimsical style that is both realistic and abstract- and totally Carter's own.
