About the Artist
As an artist, Catherine R. Chiara is connected to people through her artwork. That is why she has been painting for 17 years. Her desire to develop her talent began in 1994 while attending Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa, California. There she became aware of her ability to paint and left school to become her own teacher, first using acrylic paint then moving to oil paint. In between the move from acrylic to oil she continued to self study by sampling different mediums and techniques, attending figure drawing sessions, joining group art projects, and studying fine arts through magazine and newspaper articles, books, and video programs on other artists and art movements.
She has been working in her current style, Pixelism, since 2005.
While she has a passion for painting, she is also a craftswoman and musician. As a craftswoman she designs and crafts her own handbags using artist canvas and oil paint. As a musician she plays the guitar and creates her own melodies that she adds to the videos she creates.
Catherine recently exhibited at ArtExpo in New York City.
